THE City of Can­ning hosted peo­ple of all abil­i­ties at Can­ning­ton Leisure­plex for a free open day to cel­e­brate the 26th an­nual In­ter­na­tional Day of Peo­ple with Dis­abil­ity on De­cem­ber 3. The com­mu­nity event served as the launch for WA Dis­abled Sports As­so­ci­a­tion’s (WADSA) Open­ing Main­stream Doors pro­gram, which will run at both River­ton and Can­ning­ton leisure­plexes. Par­tic­i­pants tried out in­ter­ac­tive cir­cuits, games and ex­er­cises to get a taste of the pro­gram, which will en­able peo­ple with a dis­abil­ity to par­tic­i­pate in land and aquatic ac­tiv­i­ties. City of Can­ning Mayor Paul Ng said the City re­ceived a $1000 grant from the De­part­ment of Com­mu­ni­ties for the event.
