Help feed people at Christmas
C3 Langford is on a mission to ensure nobody eats alone at Christmas, but its churchgoers need help to make it happen.
The church is fundraising for its Donate a Plate campaign to provide Christmas dinner for about 500 underprivileged people on December 18.
Community pastor Lisa Whittle said the church wanted to turn its community dinner into a large-scale event to end the year on a high note.
“Our fortnightly dinners normally finish early December for a Christmas wind-up and we get an insane amount of people,” she said.
“This year, we’ve had influx of homeless and lonely people, people with no family and it felt right to do an actual Christmas dinner.”
Ms Whittle said they were fundraising to secure caterers for the dinners and just $25 would help feed two people.
“You can donate a plate, then we’ll put your name on a plate and you’ll know you donated to these people to eat at Christmas,” she said.
The church will have a festive Giving Tree to help those less fortunate.
“We gather information from people and families in need and convert it into a card that has gender and age on it and place it on our Christmas tree,” she said.
