Good times ahead

Canning Times - - NEW YEAR’S WELCOME -

festival in March called Hello Manning. The transformation of Mends Street starts this year with the Connect South project creating an urban heart for South Perth.

The first stage includes the development of a piazza on Mends Street foreshore featuring seating, shaded areas and lighting. Construction will start after Australia Day, with completion scheduled for the end of 2019.

Guided by our strategic community plan 2017-27, we will continue to focus on how we can deliver quality services and infrastructure to our community that is both efficient and costeffective. As our population grows, we are renewing the planning framework that guides how the City responds to this growth.

In 2019, the City will progress development of the local planning strategy and South Perth activity centre plan.

Once finalised, these documents will provide a robust planning framework to manage development that accommodates forecast and required population growth in the City.

The prospect of an aquatic facility in the City has been under consideration for some years.

In 2018, the recreation and aquatic facility feasibility project looked into the viability of a multipurpose facility and this year further research and a business plan will be presented by July.
