Bribie Island

Home to a breathtaking line-up of wildlife, Bribie Island is located just an easy 45 minutes from Brisbane airport. Kids camping on Bribie will love the thrill of spotting the different types of birds that call the island home throughout different times of the year, or if they’re lucky, they might even be treated to a show by the resident dolphins.

Campsites here range from basic sites with no facilities, like the ones at Gallagher Point or Lime Pocket, to better- equipped sites such as Mission Point. The latter comes with toilets, cold showers, running water (though ensure you treat all your water before drinking), picnic tables and fireplaces. There are also facilities for camper trailers at Poverty Creek, a site that provides toilets, showers, running water, fireplaces and picnic tables.

Family-friendly beaches are found on the Island along the Pumicestone Passage (the channel separating Bribie and the mainland), and kids can splash around in the water while parents relax on the pristine, white shore.
