Australia’s little state boasts some of the greatest overnight hiking trails. The 31-kilometre Freycinet Peninsula Circuit showcases a variety of terrain that can be done in two or three days, making this coastal headland trail a great introductory option for new hikers. From stunning granite peaks to pristine beaches and crystal waters, the kids will be mesmerised by a plethora of stunning views to take in, especially if they do the challenging (optional) climb to the top of Mount Freycinet, which offers breathtaking views of the surrounding national park. The circuit allows walkers to relax and succumb to the looming wilderness, especially at the picturesque Cooks Beach campsite. Children will be able to embrace their inner explorer and discover the national park’s abundant wildlife. Plan your hike between December and April to take advantage of longer daylight hours and warmer average temperatures. A national park entry fee is required. Difficulty: Moderate
