Cooking outdoors can be a challenge. Many travellers give in to temptation and bring their entire kitchen from home, while some take the ‘less-is-more’ approach too far, and find themselves trying to prepare dinner with a solitary teaspoon. Whether you’re a seasoned camper or just looking to get outside more, keeping yourself and everyone you’re travelling with happily fed and watered requires some serious thought. But don’t let that discourage you.
The key is to invest in multipurpose cooking items. Not sure where to start? The Sea to Summit X-Set 32 is the perfect addition to your camp kitchen. The three-piece set includes a 1.8-litre X-Pot, 1.3-litre X-Pot Kettle and a 20-centimetre X-Pan. All collapse to create a disc-sized set that weighs just under a kilogram and slides into a backpack or under a car seat.
Each item has a hard, anodised aluminium base to create a solid cooking platform that won’t slide around on your burner. The collapsible walls of the X-Pots are made from BPA-free, food-grade, heat-resistant silicone. These walls are supported by an embedded stainless-steel ring that adds stability and durability to the design. Each pot comes with measurements printed on the side and a translucent lid with a built-in strainer. When you’re ready to travel, store the pots and pan inside each other and lock the lid in place with the silicone handles.
