Returning to Lennox Head, one of my favourite towns in Australia, has been a year in the making, and many more years since I last visited. With massive surfer vibes, where lifestyle is prioritised, Lennox is the kind of place you check house prices, in case you stumble upon a shack too hard to resist. Unfortunately, shacks are few and far between these days, but the suburb retains its slightly alternative, eco-conscious ideals, only now you’ll find an impressive new playground, a redeveloped foreshore and stylish glamping tents. It’s the glamping that gave me an excuse to plan an old-fashioned coastal road trip, with Lennox, a seven-hour drive north of our home, our final destination. I’m always curious as to how holiday parks and small businesses cater for families in glamping tents; mostly, they’re only suitable for two people. But as soon as I laid my eyes on this o ering by Reflections Holiday Parks, I was keen to put them to the test.

I was greeted with a big smile from the happy receptionist, which set the tone for our weekend stay. we never turned it on), a lounge, a coat rack, bedside tables, and multiple tables for breakfast, al fresco dining and for co ee (or for the kids to use for their afternoon art sessions). There was even an outside bath, although no privacy so you’ll want to wear swimmers. The two standout features, however, were the beds. The queen bed was a four-poster with snuggly linen and a mosquito net, which seems more for ambience than insects. The children’s bed was like a cubby nook, a hole in the wall with two mattresses side by side that gave them a sweet play area they adored. There were even cushions by Pony Rider, a luxe homewares brand. The Glamping Precinct also includes two bell tents, so if you have a large family or a teenager needing space, you can book one of those as well.

The park is traditional and leafy, with a large camp kitchen, shower block (for if you’re camping) and a small dog agility park. There are also pedal karts, kayaks, and paddleboards for hire.
