Fes­ti­val in need of floats

THE Biggen­den Apex Rose Fes­ti­val is only a month away and or­gan­is­ers are keen to hear from busi­nesses, schools and in­di­vid­u­als plan­ning to en­ter floats in the iconic pa­rade.

With a theme of Trea­sures of Biggen­den, the fes­ti­val will be held on Satur­day, Oc­to­ber 20 but only 10 floats have nom­i­nated for the pa­rade and least 20 are re­quired be­fore road clo­sures can be sched­uled.

Fes­ti­val cel­e­bra­tions will com­mence on Satur­day, Oc­to­ber 4 with the Rose Ball at the Show Hall.

Tick­ets are avail­able from Deb’s Coun­try Out­fit­ters.

Al­ready four young women have nom­i­nated for the Rose Queen pageant and while the Miss Per­son­al­ity and Char­ity Queen ti­tles will also be con­tested. Any­one aged from 18 to 30 in­ter­ested in nom­i­nat­ing should con­tact Michelle Radel.

Plans for the fes­ti­val week­end include and art ex­hi­bi­tion, rose and flower show, scare­crow com­pe­ti­tion, Henry Walsh Climb to Mt Walsh as well as mar­kets and live en­ter­tain­ment from 2pm on the Satur­day.

The pa­rade will start at 4pm.
