Gayndah bands together to support Heidi
COMMUNITY spirit and mateship was on show in Gayndah on Saturday night at the auction fundrasier for Heidi Pringle.
Ms Pringle is a young local who is undergoing treatment for acute promyelocytic leukaemia and is having month-on, month-off treatment in hospital in Brisbane.
The total raised from auction items alone was more than $6000, with bar profits and cash donations still to be added to the total.
Out of the 29 items that went up for auction, only four failed to receive a bid – those items will be posted to Facebook to see if they can be sold.
Organisers Amanda Zahl and Amanda Wenck were humbled by the support received and happy with the outcome.
“For us, it was about more than money,” Ms Wenck said.
“It is about showing support and kindness to a beautiful young woman and her family as they go through an extremely difficult circumstance.”
“This girl is going through a heck of a journey and we just feel absolutely privileged that we can do any small thing, just to show them support and kindness during this time,” Ms Wenck said.
DIGING DEEP: The community has rallied behind Heidi Pringle, with her fiancé Lincoln Driver, as she faces months of treatment in Brisbane.
