Art and flow­ers join forces for rose fes­ti­val

THE rose and flower shower is al­ways a high­light of the Biggen­den Apex Rose Fes­ti­val, but this year will be held in con­junc­tion with a char­ity art ex­hi­bi­tion.

The event will be held in the Memo­rial Hall, with open­ing night on Fri­day, Oc­to­ber 19 in the form of a wine and cheese evening.

Rose and flower show sched­ules are avail­able and can be viewed on the Biggen­den Apex Rose Fes­ti­val 2018 web page.

There are va­ri­ety of classes for roses and ger­beras, along with minia­ture roses and flow­er­ing desert roses in pots.

On the Fri­day, the Memo­rial Hall will be open from 2pm to ac­cept rose show en­tries un­til 5.30pm, be­fore the judg­ing at 6pm.

Win­ners will be an­nounced that night and pre­sented with their prizes by Rose Fes­ti­val Queen Emily Spry. The art ex­hi­bi­tion is a fundraiser for the Biggen­den school chap­laincy pro­gram and will en­able lo­cal artists, in­clud­ing chil­dren, to dis­play and sell their work.

■ Ad­mis­sion for the wine and cheese evening is $10 for adults and $5 for un­der 17s.

■ There is free en­try to the hall on the Satur­day from 10am–3pm and 5–7pm and then Sun­day un­til 12pm.
