Art and flowers join forces for rose festival
THE rose and flower shower is always a highlight of the Biggenden Apex Rose Festival, but this year will be held in conjunction with a charity art exhibition.
The event will be held in the Memorial Hall, with opening night on Friday, October 19 in the form of a wine and cheese evening.
Rose and flower show schedules are available and can be viewed on the Biggenden Apex Rose Festival 2018 web page.
There are variety of classes for roses and gerberas, along with miniature roses and flowering desert roses in pots.
On the Friday, the Memorial Hall will be open from 2pm to accept rose show entries until 5.30pm, before the judging at 6pm.
Winners will be announced that night and presented with their prizes by Rose Festival Queen Emily Spry. The art exhibition is a fundraiser for the Biggenden school chaplaincy program and will enable local artists, including children, to display and sell their work.
■ Admission for the wine and cheese evening is $10 for adults and $5 for under 17s.
■ There is free entry to the hall on the Saturday from 10am–3pm and 5–7pm and then Sunday until 12pm.
JUST IN TIME: The roses are looking beautiful for the upcoming festival at Biggenden.
