BIGGEN­DEN: Char­bray feeder steers sold to 288.2c/kg at Bur­nett Live­stock & Re­alty’s meat­works and store sale on Mon­day, Oc­to­ber 8 at Biggen­den. There was a yard­ing of 919 head. The meat­works mar­ket was af­fected by qual­ity and vol­ume, eas­ing on the last sale. Feeder steer prices lifted, re­flect­ing the good qual­ity vol­ume lines of­fered, and weaner cat­tle were harder to shift with buy­ers wait­ing for more rain and look­ing for more con­sis­tent lines of wean­ers. Plainer type store cat­tle con­trib­uted to the soft­en­ing mar­ket av­er­ages. Bul­locks over 600kg sold to 287c, eas­ing 3c on the last sale. Trade bul­locks 500kg- 600kg sold to 291c, back 3c, and cows over 500kg sold to 252c, back 6c. Cows 400 to 500kg sold to 235c, back 10c. Feeder steers 400kg to 500kg sold to a top of 288c, up 8c, while steers 300kg to 400kg sold to 283c, up 6c. Steers 200kg to 300kg sold to 279c, down 6c on last fort­night. Heifers 300kg to 400kg sold for 244c, back 18c, and heifers 200kg to 300kg sold to 240c, down 14c. Four-tooth Santa cross bul­locks from Wan­doan sold for 287c to re­turn $1768. MUR­GON: Ex­port and feed­lot types again sold to strong rates in Mur­gon on Tues­day with agents yard­ing 500 head. Num­bers were drawn from Mun­dub­bera, Gayn­dah, Mt Perry Biggen­den, Kin­garoy, Yar­ra­man and lo­cally. Heavy bulls topped at 267c/kg for $2658. Bul­locks sold to 299c/kg and $1959. Heavy cows also sold to slightly dearer rates top­ping at 253c/kg and $1560. Cows 400kg to 500 kg sold to 241c/kg, av­er­ag­ing 203c/kg. Lighter cows un­der 400kg sold to a top of 217c/kg. 495kg Drought­mas­ter steers from Wondai sold to 278c/kg to re­turn $1378. Bran­gus steers from Mur­gon sold to 272c/kg at 405kg for $1104. A line of Drought­mas­ter weaner steers from Manum­bar sold to $627 for 222kg and 282c/kg. Charo­lais cross weaner steers from Wooroon­den sold for 268c/kg and $704. 465kg Brah­man heifers sold to $1209 at 260c/kg. Two pens of An­gus heifers from Yar­ra­man sold to 232c/kg and 225c/kg for $586 and $492. Three pens of light Drought­mas­ter cross heifers from Manum­bar sold for 230c/kg ($500), 235c/kg ($385) and 259c/kg ($312). Cows and calves were in lim­ited num­bers and sold to a top of $1200. The next Mur­gon sale is on Tues­day, Oc­to­ber 23, start­ing at 8am.
