GAYNAH locals have been encouraged to start collecting tyres for the community Christmas initiative The Town that Never Tyres of Tinsel.

Last year’s Rudolph’s Round Bale Road Trip in Gayndah saw hay bales placed right across town and decorated in Christmas theme.

With the event being such a success there was anticipation of it becoming an annual event, however, with so many places being drought affected and the high demand for hay bales, this year the organisers decided to ask locals to decorate tyres instead.

All Gayndah residents are encouraged to take part in this community event by simply finding some old tyres and getting creative.

Justin and Kym Robertson of Gayndah Tyre Service have offered to provide old tyres free of charge to anyone who would like some to decorate.

Tyres need to be decorated by December 2, with activity sheets being released the following week encouraging people to take a tour of the town.

A people’s choice prize will be awarded.
