Good luck kids, says Member for Flynn
MEMBER for Flynn Ken O’Dowd MP has encouraged parents to get involved in their children’s education, calling them the “first and best teacher”, while wishing students good luck before classes started this week.
“We know that when a home environment encourages and supports learning, such as reading to your children every day, then kids do better at school,” he said.
Mr O’Dowd also urged parents to utilise the Federal Government’s Learning Potential online portal, which includes information for parents such as how to integrate learning for your child into everyday activities, reinforce what they’ve learnt at school, and educational games for kids to play.
Other links he included were to the Department of Education’s Student Wellbeing Hub, the department’s Child Care Finder tool, and the Bullying. No Way! website.
“Every child deserves the opportunity to reach their full potential, to learn, to be curious, to be supported, and to enjoy school,” Mr O’Dowd said.
