CAMPDRAFT: Biggenden Charity Campdraft Committee would like to invite interested persons to its annual meeting being held on Tuesday, February 19 at 7pm at the Grand Hotel. President Scott Marshall said if you think you would like to be part of a great committee please feel free to attend.
JUNIOR RUGBY LEAGUE: Childers Junior Rugby League Club will have a come and try day on Saturday, February 9 at the Childers Showgrounds at 2pm. There will be a sausage sizzle. The club uses modified rules for juniors and has experienced, qualified coaches. For more information contact the club at childersjuniorrugby email@example.com. INDOOR BOWLS: Indoor social bowls at Gayndah RSL Hall had its first night back for the year and there wasn't much sign of holiday rust in everyone's performances. Highest score of the night was Boyd Baker on 52, followed by Rita Alsemgeest 48, Kit George 46, Muriel Glover 38, Gary Taylor 32, and Margaret Formice and JJ Turner both 18. All are welcome. Held Thursdays at 7pm for a 7.30 start.
GOLF: Gayndah Golf Club has a busy month ahead. On Saturday, February 2, they will host a two Ball Ambrose over 18 holes for Gayndah Opening Day, teeing off at 12.30pm. The following Saturday will be the 4BBB Stableford with matchplay qualifying. The day after, Sunday, February 10, is the Biggenden Men’s Carnival. Saturday, February 16 will see a 3 Ball Ambrose for the Taylor McCosker Orange Festival fundraiser and on the next Saturday, February 23, the Monthly Medal.
The club’s monthly meeting is on the evening of Monday, February 18.
Last Tuesday, Vic Bryant won the veterans 9-hole stroke competition with a net score of 28, followed by Jim Myers on 29-and-a-half. Norma Burns won the putting competition and Di Baker earned special mention for a pinshot on hole 14.
Reg Brown bested 25 other contenders on the Sporters 9-hole Stableford that Thursday with 30 points, just ahead of Brad Schiffke, also on 30, and Allan MiMi on 28. Matt Zillman and Tom Jameson both hit pinshots, on holes five and seven respectively.
CRICKET: Although they have had a season to forget, the Brisbane Heat BBL cricket team of 2018/19 have been kind enough to autograph a bat and donate it to the Mundubbera 7-a-side cricket carnival. The bat will be auctioned at the community evening on Saturday, February 2 at the Mundubbera Community Centre. Happy hour will run from 6–7pm.
PADS ON: The Mundubbera 7-a-Side cricket takes place this weekend.
