Care Comes First … As part of our 2018–2022 strategic plan, building capacity and developing our infrastruc­ture are key priorities as we continuall­y work to meet the growing healthcare needs of our region. This important work also helps to support the local economy through job creation and use of local suppliers. Through Patients’ Eyes, New Hervey Bay Hospital emergency department Upgrades to Maryboroug­h Hospital Part of a $44.66 million, 3-storey building being opened in stages emergency, specialist outpatient­s and main reception areas $14.37 million project will expand treatment spaces in emergency and specialist outpatient­s Will double emergency capacity from 19 to 37 beds and provide state- of-the-art facilities for patients and staff Enhanced design will improve flow and patient experience Main reception area almost complete Estimated 170 constructi­on-related jobs created Emergency upgrade due to start in April Estimated 35 constructi­on-related jobs created OPENS TODAY from 7am Entire project due for completion by early 2020 New Bundaberg Hospital medical ward Gayndah Hospital upgrades New ward on Level 2 will lift medical bed capacity from 24 to 40, with extra bed capacity for peak activity periods $5.4 million project to substantia­lly refurbish hospital building, clinical areas and kitchen More patients will be given the right care, in the right place, at the right time Improved facilities and enhanced patient experience Bed pressure will ease on emergency department and surgical ward Project currently in final stage, which includes roof replacemen­t and exterior painting Estimated 30 health-related jobs created Estimated 14 constructi­on-related jobs created Due to open early February 2019 Due for completion by March 2019 Wide Bay Hospital and Health Service are focused on delivering the best possible health care to our community, today and into the future.
