New Master for Gayndah Lodge

Central and North Burnett Times - - NEWS -

A BIBLE was presented to Wor Bro Kevin Murree when he was placed in the Worshipful Master’s chair of Gayndah Lodge on Saturday afternoon.

The Bible once belonged to Albert Shillig who was initiated into a Maryborough Lodge on April 13, 1916.

Installing master was RW Bro Dave Sherrit, the Assistant Grand Master of Queensland and his team who came from Brisbane, Pialba, Hervey Bay and Maryborough areas.

Wor Bro Murree was supported by his wife Erica who produced, among other things, a magnificent Masonic cake which they cut and served together.

Kevin is the 86th Brother to take on the job of Worshipful Master since 1908 with some doing two, three or more years in the chair. This is his third year as Master of Gayndah Lodge.

Mr Murree paid tribute to the past master VW Bro Bill Turner for the work he has done promoting the lodge and in the local community.

On top of his agenda for the upcoming year will be a Remembrance Day service at the November meeting which the public will be invited to.

Those in attendance were provided with a beautiful two-course meal by the Gayndah Anglican Ladies.

Mr Turner said the Grand Lodge team were most appreciative of the corned beef and Anne Kenny’s self-saucing chocolate pudding was a real hit with them.

On the lighter side of the night it was found when the multi-raffle was drawn two books of the same colour and numbers had been sold.

Mr Turner said luckily we had plenty of prizes for when a red ticket was drawn.

“We think we’ll do it again next year as it halved the time of the raffle,” he said with a laugh.

Biggenden Lodge Master Chris Roberts performed a number of songs and all enjoyed the sing-a-long.

At the conclusion of the night Wor Bro Murree presented the Grand Team with engraved glasses from Gayndah Lodge as a memento of their visit.
