1000 were yarded in Mur­gon on Tues­day with all de­scrip­tions sell­ing to much bet­ter rates.

Rain­fall in cer­tain ar­eas of the state over the last cou­ple of weeks has short­ened up sup­ply and both pro­ces­sors and feed­lot op­er­a­tors were keen to se­cure cat­tle.

Bulls sold to $2.2.90 c/kg and $2480.00.

Bul­locks sold to $3.09 c/kg and $1825.00.

Heavy Cows over 500 kilo­grams topped at $2.96 per kilo­gram and $1850.00 av­er­ag­ing $2.81 c/kg.

Cows 400 to 500 kg sold to $2.86 per kilo­gram for a $2.56 av­er­age.

Lighter Cows un­der 400 kg topped at $2.74.

Ex­port heifers sold to $3.00 per kilo­gram and $1320.00. Cat­tle were drawn from Mun­dub­bera, Gayn­dah, Mt Perry, Nanango, Boon­dooma, Kin­garoy, Kilki­van, Gun­diah and lo­cally.

Bran­gus cross steers from Redgate weigh­ing 413 kg sold for $3.32 c/kg to re­turn $1374.00. 365 kg Char­bray steers from Tansey sold for $1219.00 at $3.34 c/kg. Sim­men­tal cross steers from Cush­nie sold for $3.33 c/kg for $1327.00 at 398 kg.

Lo­cal Char­bray steers weigh­ing 381 kg sold for $1260.00 at $3.30 c/kg.

308 kg Charo­lais steers from Mt Perry sold for $1009.00 at $3.27 c/kg.

2 tooth Charo­lais steers from Kin­garoy sold for $3.24 c/kg and $1148.00.

294 kg An­gus steers sold to $3.23 c/kg for $950.00. 235 kg An­gus steers from Nanango sold for $752.00 at $3.19 c/kg. Light Bran­gus weaner steers from Manyung sold for $3.66 c/kg re­turn­ing $521.00.

2 pens of Drought­mas­ter weaner steers from Gun­diah sold for $3.18 c/kg to re­turn $578.00 & $550.00.

175 kg Charo­lais weaner steers from Mt Perry sold for $3.06 c/kg and $537.00.

386 kg Bran­gus cross heifers from Mur­gon sold for $3.08 c/kg for $1191.00. Charo­lais cross heifers from Cush­nie sold to $3.06 c/kg re­turn­ing $1010.00. Drought­mas­ter cross heifers from Hivesville sold for $863.00 at $2.83 c/kg. 281 kg Brah­man heifers from Wooroolin sold to $3.13 c/kg for $881.00.

296 kg Drought­mas­ter heifers from Mun­dub­bera sold for $861.00 and $2.91 c/kg. An­gus cross heifers from Manum­bar sold for $2.89 c/kg for $833.00.

A big per­cent­age of weaner heifers sold from $2.40 c/kg to $2.80 c/kg.

Char­bray cows & Calves topped at $920.00.

Sul­li­van Live­stock yarded 1850 cat­tle at their Gympie Cat­tle Sale held Mon­day, Jan­uary 20, where the mar­ket for all de­scrip­tions met spir­ited com­pe­ti­tion.

Cat­tle were drawn from Gin Gin, Bund­aberg, Mary­bor­ough, Ara­mara, Boouby­jan, Tansey, Kilki­van, Woolooga, Conon­dale, Maleny, Ke­nil­worth, Eumundi and all lo­cal ar­eas. Heavy Charo­lais Bulls ac­count J & R Mercer sold to a top of $3.15 & $3.08 to re­turn $2,493 & $2,273.

Most heavy bulls sold from $2.85 to $3.05.

Cows peaked at $2.70 for Drought­mas­ter cows from Dan O’Rourke, Wonga to re­turn $1,711, $1,621, $1,601 & $1,519. The next run of cows gen­er­ally sold from $2.45 to $2.61. Char­bray steers from Neville & Lyn­dall Ens­bey sold for $3.31 to re­turn $1,455 & $1,400. Drought­mas­ter steers from P.

Qual­ity Drought­mas­ter heifers from D O’Rourke sold for $3.13 ($991).

Sim­men­tal x heifers from Goomeri made $3.16. Brah­man x heifers from Tee­bar made $2.98 & $2.94 ($839 & $812). Santa x heifers from Goomeri sold for $2.93 to re­turn $883.

Good con­di­tioned vealer heifers sold from $2.70 to $2.92 to pro­ces­sors, while re­stocker heifers made from $2.15 to $2.61 plainer types sold from $1.70 to $2.00.
