THE Biggenden Show Hall and grounds will be full to the brim tomorrow (Friday) as the life of one of the region’s icons, Kevin “Lofty” Wendt OAM BEM, is remembered and celebrated. The former Vietnam veteran and regimental sergeant major, councillor and much-loved community member passed away on January 27 after a battle with cancer. He will be remembered at a military service starting at 11am. About 100 soldiers from his 8/9 RAR will be in attendance. Extra seating and marquees have been provided for the expected influx of mourners, but attendees who wish to be seated are asked to bring their own chair.

The service will be followed by internment at the Degilbo Lawn Cemetery where various organisations, including the Biggenden Rugby League Club, Biggenden PCYC Cadets and Dallarnil State School, will form a guard of honour.
