FINALS fever got underway in Mundubbera over the weekend with the senior cricket finals.

There were four matches on Saturday (February 15) at Martin Love Oval, with a finals berth on the cards for each team.

First on the agenda was the men’s team Spitting Cobras verses Rollin' Over, putting on a tight contest for the crowd.

The Spitting Cobras opened the proceedings, touting a respectable score of 152 from their 20 overs.

A top order collapse saw them wobble at the start of their innings with Russel Baker taking two wickets early.

Justin Whelan was able to steady the ship by top scoring with 66 runs.

Doug Kumar was the stand out for the bowlers, taking 3-12 off two overs.

Rollin’ Overs’ batting was simply too strong for the Spitting Cobras in the end, reaching their total just after 19 overs.

A stand out display towards the end of the innings from Dave Ludwig saw Rollin’ Overs run away with the game, scoring an unbeaten 36 not out.

The next match saw the women’s teams the Pitch Slappers take on the Wicket Wackers, with the Pitch Slappers batting first.

They were able to reach a total of 59 runs thanks to Kelly Voss with 15 runs, followed by Lynette Kerle with nine runs.

A fighting display from the Wicket Wackers' Emma saw her claim 3/6 of two overs.

The Wicket Wackers overcame their total, all thanks to a class display from Julie, clobbering 40 runs in her opening partnership with Jodie.

The No Ballers then took no time in stamping their authority in their match again the Wannabees, smashing 86 runs, all thanks to Sophie’s 32 from 20 balls.

Their total was just too much for the Wannabees, only being able to reach 63 runs from their 10 overs.

Piper was instrumental in their victory, claiming figures of 3/8 off two overs.

The final match of the evening saw the Colts take on the Bush Bashers, creating great entertainment for the crowd.

The Colts amassed a total of 113 runs, but it wasn’t enough with the Bush Bashers chasing it down with a standout display from C Tucker on 58 not out , and W Dingle on 26 not out.

The next round of the finals will be played at Martin Love Oval in Mundubbera on Saturday, February 22.
