Backlash results in upgrades

Central and North Burnett Times - - NEWS -

COMMUNITY backlash about a lack of shading in North Burnett parks has forced North Burnett Regional Council to act, with sun safe infrastructure set to be installed.

Several parks and playgrounds in the region will now become sun safe, with upgrades taking place in June.

Construction dates have now been set on four shade sales over playgrounds in Biggenden’s Lions park, and Monto’s Jaycee, Lions and Memorial Parks.

An online petition circled in 2019 demanded the council act on community feedback about the “excruciatingly hot” summer days rendering the park useless for families.

Works have already begun this month with Biggenden’s Lions Park from June 3 to June 12.

Jaycee Park and Lions Park in Monto will be done jointly from June 5 to June 26.

Monto’s Memorial Park will then follow, from June 26.
