A TURBINE blade from a central Victorian wind farm has broken off and fallen to the ground following an lightning strike. Operators of the Lal Lal wind farm, Vestas, suspended operators of all turbines in the Yendon section of the facility for inspection after the damage on Monday evening.
Vestas spokeswoman Rebecca Zhang said no injuries or property damage occurred as a result of the turbine snap.
“The impacted area has been cordoned off and our technical team is on site and investigating the root cause,” she said. “Prior to the blade break, the site experienced severe weather conditions, including lightning.”
