A busy day for police in Emerald
EMERALD police were kept busy last Friday following a number of offences occurring around the small country town:
■ About 12.05am they intercepted a Ford utility on Hospital Rd. A 23-year-old male from Emerald supplied a reading of 0.209 and was charged with high-range drink-driving.
■ About 10.30am Emerald police intercepted a vehicle on the Capricorn Highway and searched the vehicle.
It is alleged police identified a quantity of dangerous drugs and charged a 46-year-old male from the Gemfields with possession of dangerous drugs.
■ About 10.50am police intercepted a vehicle on Opal St. A 48-year-old male supplied a reading of 0.108 and was charged with mid-range drink-driving.
■ About 11am two people were detained during a search on Roberts St. It is alleged police identified a quantity of dangerous drugs, including cannabis and methamphetamine, as well as utensils. A 29-year-old female from Emerald was charged with possession of dangerous drugs, possession of utensils and obstructing police. A 24-year-old male from Kelso was charged with obstructing police.
■ About 5pm police executed a search warrant at an address and as a result it is alleged police located a quantity of cannabis and drug utensil. A 37-year-old female from Emerald was charged in relation to this matter.
■ About 8.15pm they were detailed to attend a single-vehicle traffic crash on the corner of Roberts and White Sts. Initial investigations revealed a Toyota wagon collided with a power pole causing extensive damage. Further investigations in relation to this matter are continuing and police are appealing for information from the public.
