Rod’s team happy to serve you
THE team at Rod’s Auto Electrics & Air Conditioning have entered their busiest time of year, as demand for well-functioning air-conditioning units rises along with the temperature.
Owners Rod and Tracey Vandersee pride themselves on not only fixing car air-con units, but helping their customers understand how their car’s cooling system works so it can be properly maintained.
Mrs Vandersee said there were many parts that contribute to how an air-con unit works, and it’s crucial car owners learn more about how to keep it functioning at its best as well as booking in for an air-con service every four years.
“It’s worth your while getting the air-con checked if you’re going to keep your car long-term,” she said.
“We pride ourselves on talking things through and helping customers to understand their car and how it works and what’s caused a problem.”
Mr Vandersee, who started the business in 2000, is able to efficiently diagnose faulty or leaky air-conditioning systems to minimise environmental effects.
Mrs Vandersee said that along with helping regular clients, she found satisfaction in helping travellers and grey nomads heading north to fix any issues on their way through town.
“Sometimes we help them with something that has already cost them a fortune by the time they get here, and they drop back in with boxes of chocolates,” she said.
“And sometimes they put a response on social media — those are the rewarding moments.”
She said that with her husband and seven staff members, she “loves what we’re doing”.
“We’re a family business, we employ local people, and we want to be here for another 18 years.
“We like to do the right thing by our customers and provide good service.”
It was also vital, Mrs Vandersee said, for the business to continue employing apprentices who attended college and kept up to date with new cars, systems and methods of maintenance.
Rod’s Auto Electrics & Air Conditioning provides automotive air-conditioning checks, services and repairs for electrical issues, starting and charging issues, retail products such spotlights and lightbars, batteries, and trailer brakes.
“There is a high demand for what we do, especially air-conditioning repairs at this time of the year,” Mrs Vandersee said.
“We endeavour to give our customers good old-fashioned service and the key to running the business is hard work and a great team.”
