Theodore River Fes­ti­val cel­e­bra­tions con­tinue

THE Theodore River Fes­ti­val launched last night with a lo­cal art ex­hi­bi­tion and the cel­e­bra­tions are set to con­tinue to­day.

The fam­ily-friendly event com­prises a va­ri­ety of ac­tiv­i­ties and at­trac­tions spread over four days with the Satur­day pro­gram ex­pected to keep every­body busy.

Re­turn­ing as an an­nual event last year, the River Fes­ti­val is set on the Daw­son River.

Event or­gan­iser and sec­re­tary Jess Stevens said the cel­e­bra­tions would con­tinue to­day with a fun ad­ven­ture out to Isla Gorge Na­tional Park.

“To­day we have Sun­set over the Sand­stone at 3pm, which is a bus trip out to Isla Gorge Na­tional Park for the af­ter­noon to en­joy the beau­ti­ful sun­set,” she said.

“Later in the evening at 6pm there will be a Bullarama at Ho­tel Theodore, which is a fam­ily friendly night fea­tur­ing a me­chan­i­cal bull.”

Sun­set over the Sand­stone bus ride and nib­bles costs $30 per per­son. Spots are lim­ited.

To­mor­row’s River Fes­ti­val pro­gram starts at 10am with a dec­o­rated bike com­pe­ti­tion, show and shine com­pe­ti­tion (cars and bikes), mar­kets in the park, hourly river cruises and plenty of rides for the kids.

At 12pm the bar will open and the Li­ons Bar­be­cue will be op­er­at­ing. There will be live mu­sic from lo­cal artists all day, as well as open mic hour from 1pm.

To­mor­row af­ter­noon’s pro­gram will fea­ture the river chal­lenge at 2pm, with a cash prize for the win­ning team. The mu­seum will also be open from 1-4pm.

The ac­tion con­tin­ues into the evening with Eat Street Mar­kets to op­er­ate from 5.30-8.30pm.

The Glow Run will be­gin at 6.15pm, fol­lowed by a tug-o-war com­pe­ti­tion at 7pm with a cash prize for the win­ning team.

Sun­day will mark the end of the River Fes­ti­val with Pi­lates in the Park from 8am. Cost is $15 per per­son and in­cludes a light break­fast.

The day will con­clude with a Long Lunch at 12pm, which is a three-course meal over­look­ing the Daw­son River. Cost is $60 per per­son and tick­ets are avail­able from Theo Home and Gar­den Cafe.
