Dancing class springs a surprise birthday party
DEBBIE Palmes received a lovely surprise during last week’s Moura folk dancing class when a colourful cake and flowers were presented to celebrate her 60th birthday.
Deb has been a member of the group for the past three years and looks forward to attending regularly.
Dancing will continue during the holidays at the Youth Centre on Thursdays from 5.30-7pm. New members are always welcome. Deb’s celebrations continued on Saturday when work colleagues, family and friends gathered for a delicious lunch, party games and dancing at Moura’s RSL club.
It was a pleasant surprise to see the Hutchinson family – Helena, Robert and Erin – out from Rockhampton for the party.
Best wishes Debbie, for good health and happiness into the future.
THE 43rd anniversary of the Kianga mine explosion, in which 13 men died, was marked on September 20.
Many people still recall seeing the huge pall of black smoke caused by the massive explosion.
The well-used Kianga Memorial Hall stands as a reminder of the men who lost their lives.
Our thoughts are with the families of those lost in the disaster.
THANKS to the Banana Shire Council workers for keeping the Gillespie St garden, fronting the highway, looking bright and colourful to welcome travellers to town.
When driving along Davey St look out for the beautiful front yard of Delma and Leno Nezic, always a delight to the senses. Garden lovers appreciate your work.
