Carnival fun for young players
Our footballers among 1000 at the Bowman challenge
Rugby league carnival
OVER the weekend we had the opportunity of travelling to Prosperine to attend the Paul Bowman Challenge under 9’s rugby league carnival.
One thousand under 9 footy players, a total of 72 teams represented, along with their family members, attended this huge carnival.
Family members of Charles Smith and Thomas Brown, members of the Gracemere Junior League and Logan Reynolds, a member of the Clermont Rugby League, attended the carnival and they saw some great football played.
As a spectator we have a lot of talented football players in our midst.
All teams played six games each with the top 16 teams going to the finals.
Whilst in the tropics, some sightseeing was held, seeing how the Airlie Beach region is recovering from the cyclone that battered them a couple of years ago.
Finally, it was great to see Bonnie Bryant, Bonnie happened to be at the carnival and she caught up with the Smith and Brown families.
Drought information session
LAST Wednesday a Drought Information Session was held at the Wowan RSL Hall organised by the Dept of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries.
Representatives were there to answer any questions relating to the drought and other issues.
A great attendance of locals and visitors were on hand and appreciated the information that was available to them.
Melodies at the MPC
NEXT Tuesday, October 2, the Wowan/Dululu Community Volunteer Group will be holding their “Melodies at the MPC” function at the MPC centre.
The morning gets under way with morning tea served from 9.30am with entertainment following.
The month of October we have the pleasure of having Rachel, Barry and Charles Smith entertaining, it will be lovely to hear Rachel and her sons entertaining.
Once again our community is so lucky to have so much talent, so come and enjoy a morning outing with friends.
Wowan Golf Club
THE Monthly Medal was played on Sunday and the winner was Nathan Kapernick with a 64 nett, runner up was John Weber with a 65 nett.
The monthly putting medal was tied with Daryl Myles and Terry Vickers both recording 26 putts This Sunday is a club competition with draw time 12.30pm.
The golf course is extremely dry at present but in great condition thanks to the course maintenance volunteers, but it was funny (not) to see the kangaroos enjoying the golf course too the other afternoon.
They were looking for a bit of green pick, not that there is much of that anywhere, only the grass greens.
HAPPY birthday wishes are extended to Andrea Voltz, Janelle Boto, Judy Ramm, Tony Fenech, Shirley Armstrong and Jacob Curtis. Have a great day everyone.
I TRUST that everyone is enjoying their school vacation. Enjoy the last few days you have left before term four commences.
