Club looks for commitment
Panthers ready to appoint new committee at AGM
The Biloela Panthers are on the look out for a president, secretary, treasurer, registrar and coaches for the 2019 season.
Appointing these new officials is the committee’s top priority as the club prepares for its annual general meeting, to be held at the Hotel Settlers’ function room on Friday, November 2, from 6pm.
Dedicated volunteers are the backbone of country rugby league and it’s no secret that clubs and competitions across rural Queensland are doing it tough.
The sport relies on these hard-working individuals and it needs these people now more than ever.
Take Graham Flennady, for example, who was honoured as Biloela’s volunteer of the year at the Rockhampton competition’s end-of-season awards.
It’s thankless work but Flennady does it tirelessly, giving up his time to do the grounds keeping, first aid, run water and hang around after games to clean up – whatever needs to be done.
The harsh reality of the situation bush footy finds itself in is that without people like him willing to go above and beyond, more country clubs and competitions will fold.
A Panthers official has advised that all players are required to attend and all community members and league lovers are invited to come along.
You can register your interest via the club’s Facebook page or by contacting secretary Jacy Barron on 0407 757 932.
