CONGRATULATIONS to Lydia Coulthurst, Owen Ambrey and the rest of the Central Region team on winning the finals of the Junior Development Series over the weekend. This was the culmination of a season-long commitment to playing tennis across the region and the state. Special congratulations to Lydia, who was runner-up in the under-17s singles, what a fantastic effort. Zali Middleton also played over the weekend after being selected as a wild card to play in the North/West team – nice work Zali.

On Sunday, November 4, the club will be holding a working bee down at the courts, we would appreciate all the help we can get. Our fences desperately need some TLC, top soil needs to be spread and some general tidying and maintenance. If helpers could please meet at 7.30am and bring a shovel and/or wheelbarrow if you have it, that would be great.

Don’t forget presentation night on Saturday, November 10. We will have social tennis from 4pm, followed by a barbecue dinner at 6pm and trophy presentation at 7pm.

Wednesday night fixtures results from last week:

Week four: Weak as Pearce def Making a Racquet, Serve You Right def New Balls, Second Serve Ace def Hit and Run, McDY def Meet Your Match. Bye week six: Team 1 – Weak as Pearce, Team 10 – Hit and Run.

DCV Seniors Tennis

THE break-up at Theodore will be held on November 3 and 4, with players asked to arrive at 8.30 for a 9 o’clock start for the American Tournament on Saturday, which will continue until 3pm. On Saturday night, there will be a meal and outdoor bowls at the bowls club, with breakfast at the courts followed by social tennis on Sunday.

Please get your names to either Stewart (0429 931 412) or Clarice (4995 1128) by Wednesday, October 31, if you are able to attend. This would also be an opportunity for new players to sample what seniors tennis offers. Players are welcome to play either one or both days.

The Christmas break-up for DCV Seniors Tennis Association is for players 35 years and over. Ray Gillis and Jenny Wragge from Moura Tennis Club will be participating and would be happy to take other players to Theodore.
