Let’s get cre­ative through re­cy­cling

NA­TIONAL Re­cy­cling Week is be­ing cel­e­brated from Novem­ber 12–18 through­out Aus­tralia.

Now in its 23rd year, this es­tab­lished and highly re­garded an­nual cam­paign con­tin­ues to ed­u­cate and stim­u­late be­hav­iour change.

This is achieved through the pro­mo­tion of re­cy­cling ini­tia­tives and giv­ing peo­ple the tools to min­imise waste and man­age ma­te­rial re­sources re­spon­si­bly at home, work and school.

Ba­nana Shire Coun­cil is pro­mot­ing re­cy­cling, reusing and re­duc­ing in many fo­rums. A par­tic­u­larly in­ter­est­ing ini­tia­tive is a joint ven­ture project planned by the Shire’s en­vi­ron­men­tal health depart­ment and Ba­nana Shire Li­braries.

Chil­dren eight years and older are in­vited to at­tend Biloela Li­brary on Satur­day, Novem­ber 17, from 10am–noon to help con­struct a larger-than-life crea­ture out of re­cy­clable items.

The crea­ture will grace the foyer of the li­brary and align it­self to the Sum­mer Read­ing Club’s theme of “Cu­ri­ous Crea­tures”.
