Let’s get creative through recycling
NATIONAL Recycling Week is being celebrated from November 12–18 throughout Australia.
Now in its 23rd year, this established and highly regarded annual campaign continues to educate and stimulate behaviour change.
This is achieved through the promotion of recycling initiatives and giving people the tools to minimise waste and manage material resources responsibly at home, work and school.
Banana Shire Council is promoting recycling, reusing and reducing in many forums. A particularly interesting initiative is a joint venture project planned by the Shire’s environmental health department and Banana Shire Libraries.
Children eight years and older are invited to attend Biloela Library on Saturday, November 17, from 10am–noon to help construct a larger-than-life creature out of recyclable items.
The creature will grace the foyer of the library and align itself to the Summer Reading Club’s theme of “Curious Creatures”.
Bookings are essential as numbers are limited – please phone and register with the library staff on 4992 7362.
