Minsheng Weekly Issue No.24, 2018

Tourism is known as the happiness industry and is an important indicator for improving people’s living standards.

In the past 40 years of China’s reform and opening-up, tourism has experienced explosive growth and leapfrogging development. The means and style of traveling which ordinary people use greatly varies, making it a norm of public life.

High-speed railways and planes allow passengers to visit the magnificent Forbidden City in Beijing in the morning and enjoy a stroll along the Huangpu River in Shanghai in the evening. Travelers can choose luxurious hotels, and unique homestays, or they can decide to live in rustic agritainment, in which they can experience the folk customs, taste local flavors, purchase specialties, and enjoy beautiful views of the countryside. With modern conveniences, travelers do not have to carry a lot of cash with them when traveling. They can have self-driving tours anytime they want and make purchases with mobile payment.

Tourism has become an important industry for stimulating rural revitalization. Villages are being turned into a poetic home, providing tourists with more and better tourism products and services. They attract more tourists to experience nature, and allow visitors to enjoy a better life in the countryside that has lucid waters and green mountains.
