Minsheng Weekly Issue No. 2, 2019
Neiliansheng’s cloth shoes, Bianyifang’s roast duck, Dezhou braised chicken... these well-known time-honored brands are preferred items for the festive season.
In foreign countries, most of the time-honored brands are the products of the industrial revolution. Famous brands in China were mostly born in handicrafts, agricultural, and commercial activities, and are closely related to life, customs, and culture.
Most of the brands have unique products, exquisite skills, and service models passed down from generation to generation. They carry the traditional Chinese business culture and crafting spirit, and enjoy a broad customer base and great brand value, economic value, and cultural value. And some are also the icons of their regions.
After the founding of the People’s Republic of China, especially in the past 40 years of reform and opening-up, a number of time-honored brands have made bold innovations, constantly developed new products, updated their business philosophy, and improved their modernization level. Many have become leaders in their respective industries. The 2018 list of the Top 100 Chinese Brands includes 11 time-honored brands, illustrating the strong vitality of the old brands.
