Travel Tips: Due to the high altitude of the Jiuzhai Valley region, vigorous sports and excess drinking of alcohol are not advisable to prevent high-altitude sickness. Visitors are advised to eat more vegetables and fruits. Visitors should bring with them their regular medications, and if possible bring a small oxygen cylinder. For the elderly, physically weak, or those who have conditions of hypertension, coronary heart disease or cardiac disease, traveling to the reserve is not recommended. With the strong ultraviolet rays of the highland sunlight all year round, visitors should shield their skin from excessive exposure to the sun. The temperatures here during the day and night vary greatly, so visitors should take warm clothing when going out in the morning or evening. The main attraction of the Jiuzhai Valley is its beautiful water, but feeding fish is strictly prohibited in the scenic area, and safety comes first.

Transportation: Jiuhuang Airport is the air traffic hub of the Jiuzhai Valley, located 88 kilometers away from the entrance of the Jiuzhai Valley. Buses are available running from the airport to the scenic area. Due to the fact that the Jiuhuang Airport is located on the plateau, various weather conditions might cause flights to be suspended. Tourists are advised to make backup plans for their return trip. In addition, long-distance bus service is also available in Chengdu and Mianyang of Sichuan Province as well as Lanzhou of Gansu Province to reach the Jiuzhai Valley.
