A Story of a CPC Member Stationed in a Village
今年59岁的杨精泽说，虽然乡亲们都脱了贫，但他将继续留在村里与村民们一起巩固脱贫成果。 Yang Jingze, 59 years old, said that although his fellow villagers had risen above poverty, he wanted to stay in the village to help them consolidate their achievements of poverty alleviation.
台沙村位于贵州省黔东南苗族侗族自治州剑河县大山深处的南明镇，曾是当地典型的没有产业扶持的“空壳村”，村民们守着自家一亩三分地过日子。
Taisha Village in Nanming Town is located deep in the mountains of Jianhe County, Qiandongnan Miao and Dong Autonomous Prefecture, Guizhou Province. It used to be a typical farming community with no industrial support of any kind. All local families earned a living from their small plots of land.
2015年3月，53岁的共产党员杨精泽临危受命，被剑河县派往台沙村任“第一书记。”白天，杨精泽与村民们一起下地干活；晚上，他挑灯夜战，忙着写申请，做项目方案。
In March 2015, Yang Jingze, a 53-year-old CPC member, was appointed Party secretary of Taisha. During the daytime, he worked in the fields alongside the villagers; during the night, he did paper work and drafted project proposals.
杨精泽主动协调，在当地扶贫、水利、交通等相关部门的支持下，带领村民先后硬化了串寨路、篮球场，修建起鼓楼、垃圾站、娱乐场所，完善了基础设施。
With the support from local authorities of poverty alleviation, water resources, transportation, and other related departments, Yang led the villagers to improve the local infrastructure by paving the roads and a basketball court, and building a drum tower, a garbage station, and a recreational center.
同时，组建起种养殖脱贫专业合作社，在荒山上种植钩藤等中药材，在下面实行土鸡等特色养殖，稻田里套养“稻花鱼”。
Meanwhile, he established a specialized planting and livestock raising cooperative for poverty alleviation to plant uncaria and other medicinal herbs on deserted hills, breed chickens and other animals, and raise fish in rice fields.
杨精泽驻村一年任期将满，20多名村民联名写申请书请求上级单位把杨精泽留下来。村民们的诚心打动了上级部门，也感动了杨精泽。他留了下来。
When Yang Jingze was about to finish his one-year tenure, over 20 villagers jointly wrote a letter to appeal to the higher authorities to renew his term of office. The sincerity of the villagers touched the authorities and Yang. As a result, he stayed on serving as Party secretary.
驻村这些年，杨精泽忙着为村里跑资金、争项目、完善基础设施，化解矛盾纠纷，为留守儿童申请助学金补助，村民都把他叫作“跑腿干部”。
During his years in the village, Yang has earned himself the title of “errand official” because of the many things he has done for the villagers, including applying for funds, competing for projects, improving the infrastructure, resolving conflicts, and applying for grants and subsidies for left-behind children.
如今的台沙村，荒山变绿了，荒地重新种上了农作物。村民人均年收入由2014年杨精泽来驻村前的2200元，增加至2016年的3900元，“空壳村”变成产业村。
Today, Taisha Village has turned over a new page of its history. Its deserted hills have turned green and its barren fields are now full of crops. The villagers’ annual income per capita increased from RMB 2,200 in 2014 to RMB 3,900 in 2016 thanks to industrial development.
2017年5月，杨精泽被贵州省总工会授予“贵州省五一劳动奖章” ; 2019年9月，获“全国民族团结进步模范个人”荣誉称号。
In May 2017, Yang was awarded the “Guizhou Provincial May 1st Labor Medal” by the Guizhou Provincial Federation of Trade Unions, and in September 2019, he was awarded the honorary title of “Model Individual of Ethnic Unity and Progress” by the State Council.
