Promoting Development of the Yangtze River Economic Belt
Insight China Issue 15, 2021
The Yangtze River, the most central river of the Chinese nation, is an important water source, ecological treasure, and unique waterway in China, which has supported the development of the nation since its beginning.
In the last five years, three symposiums have been held to draw up a grand blueprint for the development of the Yangtze River Economic Belt. It has provided a refined design and clearer strategy for the protection and development of the mother river.
The Yangtze River Economic Belt covers 11 provinces along the river in China’s eastern, central, and western areas with almost half of the country’s total population and economic volume. Over the last five years, under the strong leadership of the CPC Central Committee, the provinces along the river have improved the ecological environment, promoted economic green transformation, and achieved historic results in their development.
The Yangtze River Economic Belt now is spearheading the national drive of green development, the promotion of “dual circulation,” and high-quality economic growth.
