On August 4, 2021, President Xi Jinping exchanged congratulatory messages with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan on the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic ties between China and Turkey.

In his message, Xi Jinping pointed out that over the past 50 years, China-turkey relations have seen a continual and steady development. Since the establishment of the China-turkey strategic cooperative relationship in 2010, bilateral exchanges and cooperation in various fields have been moving forward in an orderly manner. After the COVID19 outbreak, both sides have been supporting each other and carried out fruitful cooperation on vaccines, which has deepened the friendship between peoples of the two countries. I attach great importance to the development of China-turkey relations, and am willing to work with President Erdogan to take the 50th anniversary as an opportunity to show mutual understanding and support on issues concerning each other’s core interests and major concerns, accelerate the alignment of development strategies, and push for the steady and long-term development of China-turkey strategic cooperative relationship, so as to bring benefits to the two countries and their peoples.

Erdogan said in his message that Turkey-china relations have a sound foundation for mutually beneficial development. The two countries have also promoted strategic cooperation on the basis of mutual respect and exerted a positive influence in the region and the world. The Turkish side attaches great importance to the development of bilateral relations and will continue to push forward bilateral strategic cooperation.
