Becoming a Quality Trader
Outlook Weekly Issue 44, 2021
Building the country into a trading power is one of the important goals in China’s development into a modern socialist country in all respects. China’s 14th Five-year Plan gives priority to domestic circulation for building a strong domestic market and meanwhile transforms China into a quality trader.
In recent years, China has quickened the pace of high-quality trade development to become a trading power. It has been constantly optimizing the domestic and international market layout and trade structure, expanding imports, developing service trade, speeding up innovation on systems, and improving the level of trade facilitation.
Besides, China has also made significant progress in participating in global governance. It has opposed unilateralism and protectionism and promoted necessary reforms of the World Trade Organization. In addition, it has actively participated in the negotiation of multilateral trade rules to maintain the authority and effectiveness of the multilateral trading system. China has also contributed initiatives and solutions within international and regional mechanisms such as G20, BRICS, and APEC.
