Beijing 2022 is the 4th Olympic Winter Games held by a northeast Asian country. Previously, Sapporo and Nagano in Japan and Pyeongchang in the Republic of Korea successfully held Winter Games respectively in 1972, 1998, and 2018. The Winter Games, together with other major international sports events such as the Asian Games, Summer Olympics, and World Cup, greatly influence the host countries and cities, boosting regional economic development, upgrading the international status, and improving international relations.
