On October 11, 2022, President Xi Jinping exchanged congratulatory messages with German President Frank-walter Steinmeier on the 50th anniversary of the establishment of China-germany diplomatic relations.

Xi Jinping pointed out that over the past 50 years, China and Germany have steadily advanced bilateral relations in the spirit of mutual respect, mutual benefit, and win-win results, and worked hard to make positive contributions to world peace and development, writing a chapter of joint progress and mutual success. Noting the great importance he attached to the development of China-germany relations, Xi expressed readiness to work with President Steinmeier in taking the opportunity of the 50th anniversary to carry forward bilateral relations on the basis of past achievements and to elevate the China-germany all-round strategic partnership to a higher level to the benefit of the two countries and peoples.

Steinmeier said that the past 50 years have seen deep-going development of Germanychina relations in multiple fields, which has enhanced bilateral exchanges and improved the wellbeing of the two peoples. China is the largest trading partner of Germany, and the economic and trade cooperation between Germany and China serves the interests of both sides. He wished for bilateral cooperation to continue to grow and flourish.
