I am a senior news presenter for Radio Algeria International. I recently did reporting on the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China in Beijing. At the press center, many foreign journalists were attracted by the fourth volume of Xi Jinping’s collected speeches and written works entitled Xi Jinping: The Governance of China. After reading through the book quickly, I was later introduced to some relevant book reviews in China Today, for example, William Jones’ article titled “Understanding China Through the Writings of Xi Jinping” in the magazine’s November issue. One outstanding achievement that the Chinese government has made was the alleviation of absolute poverty in 2020, and since then the related policy of rural revitalization has made its way to further boost the country’s rural development. Amid the global food crisis, stabilizing the agricultural production and ensuring food security have become exceptionally important for China. In the book review, there was another part that really impressed me: President Xi highlights the need for Party members to always stand for the good of the people. The strength of the CPC, he notes, is in its total commitment to the people’s livelihood. It is also noteworthy to mention that Xi uses numerous quotes from dozens of Chinese authors, giving readers an interesting synopsis of the writings of ancient and modern Chinese scholars and writers, showcasing the depth and scope of that 5,000-year-old Chinese culture which Xi is most ardently passionate about making known to the world.

I am a journalist of Brasil 247, a Brazilian-based media. I read “The Philosophy of a High-quality Belt and Road Initiative” in the column of Book Review in China Today’s December issue. As the author points out, the fourth volume of Xi Jinping: The Governance of China covers a wide spectrum of topics from political thought to issues of common concern. Economic development has also been given heavy weight in the book. Actually, China’s economic policies and their impact on the future world is something which we are particularly concerned. Nine years after the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) was proposed, President Xi expounds on the high-quality Belt and Road development, which has been the result of high-quality cooperation and is necessary for addressing the global challenges. It must be recognized that China is under the dual pressure of economic downturn and economic blockade from some Western countries. Over the next five years, we in the international community will be closely watching to see how the Chinese government will solve these problems, how it will better lead economic innovation and growth, expand opening-up to a higher level, and achieve high-quality development.
