Bull surprises people at Dalby saleyards

Chinchilla News - - BEST OF THE WEST - Michael Doyle

VISITORS to the Dalby saleyards received an unexpected welcome as they arrived for sale last Wednesday.

A new piece of art greeted vendors and buyers and left them pondering its origins.

The bull was commissioned by council staff about two years ago, and has seemingly been forgotten.

Councillor Ray Brown says he would inquire about how and why the bull ended up at the saleyards.

“This never came across the Dalby saleyards committee, so I am asking the CEO why the bull is here,” Cr Brown said.

Mayor Paul McVeigh said the bull cost council $4000, including installation and there was a possible explanation.

“Unfortunately the artist we got to complete this piece of art had fallen ill, so that delayed the project by at least a year,” he said.
