Helping our disaster-affected neighbours
WE BEGIN by congratulating the organisers of A Day Out With Dad event held last Saturday.
By all accounts the day was well supported with 28 families there and 45 children.
The Lions Club of Chinchilla is proud to have been a sponsor.
This week, our club made a donation to the Lions Australia Appeal for the bushfire victims in the south and the flood victims of the north.
We simply could not help our neighbours in distress if it were not for the ongoing support of the community of Chinchilla in our fundraising efforts at our RSL Saturday raffles, our annual charity auction and various projects in between.
April 21 is our Annual Lions Charity Auction which, over the
40 years of its existence, has raised more than $100,000.
Except for advertising expenses, 100 per cent of all proceeds are used for local charitable purposes, even our honorary auctioneers donate their services.
Donations of good saleable items are still being accepted – please give Bruce a call on 0429 365 322 or Lindsay on 0427 656 201.
Meanwhile it’s also been a busy week for the Lions Club of Wandoan as they took their merry-go-round to the Wandoan Races last Saturday.
The Wandoan Lions Club has a proud history spanning 44 years. However, any service club is only as strong as its membership and the Lions are looking for your help – they need more hands.
The Wandoan Lions are inviting you to a complimentary barbecue at the Wandoan Cultural Centre on Thursday, April 5, at 6.30pm. Please call lion John Erbacher on
0427 274 473 and let him know if you’re attending.
