Day with dad hits the bullseye

Chinchilla News - - NEWS -

IT’S always special for children to hang out with their dads – even more so when there’s guns, fire, and food to entertain.

That was the scene on Saturday as families took the short drive to the Chinchilla Clay Target Club for an afternoon of fun.

Event organiser Brendan Day said he thought of the event as a way to give dads an opportunity to spend time with their children.

“And try and promote that bond and that relationship and create, ideally, a special event, a special day... something memorable,” he said.

The day featured shooting exercises, while firefighters were on hand to give a demonstration, and there was plenty of craft and other activities for all ages to enjoy.

The Chinchilla Scouts were on hand to run activities, with group leader Leanne Fitzgerald impressed with the initiative.

“It’s great that there is stuff out there for the community, especially for dads and kids to to spend a bit of quality time together,” she said.

Mr Day thanked the clay target club, and businesses CS Energy, Chinchilla Scouts, Woolworths, Drakes, Mitre 10, Lions Chinchilla and McDonald’s Chinchilla for their support.
