Lions busy preparing for annual charity auction and special BBQ Chinchilla
THIS week our members will be starting a busy two-week period collecting and preparing items for sale at our annual Lions Charity Auction, which will be held on Saturday, April 21 from 9am onwards.
We are pleased to be able to report there are already many interesting items on offer including furniture; large, new cupboards with drawers and hanging space and many boxes of knick-knacks, toys, drinking glasses, etc.
We also have two exercise walking machines on offer, plus collectables, i.e. old tractor and machinery wheels and some antique furniture.
There will be something for everyone
We will itemise more of the items next week. Please give Lion Bruce a call on 0429 365 322 if you have any excess items you wish to contribute.
The Cactoblastis Monument project west of town continues to receive local visitors and tourists. To make the area even more inviting, the new owners of the property, Lions Steven and Ursula Keating are set to install a pipeline from Charleys Creek at the back of the property, which will pump water to the monument site.
Very soon we hope to have attractive lawns to welcome our visitors.
Well done to our Masonic friends in donating much needed funds to our Meals on Wheels service here in town.
Chinchilla Lions Club has a long history of supporting Meals on Wheels having constructed the original Meals on Wheels kitchen building from proceeds of, what was then our annual Barley Crop, grown on the unused portion of the Chinchilla Aerodrome.
‘Til next week, take care, stay safe and remember if you would like to find out what Lions do in the community, call Lindsay on 0427 656 201 and have a coffee and a chat or join us for dinner.
Remember, where there’s a need, there’s a Lion.
Tonight will be a special event on our Wandoan Lions Club’s calendar when we host friends from around our district of Wandoan to a special complimentary barbecue social evening at the Wandoan Cultural Centre.
Our club urgently needs more members and tonight our guests will be invited to ask questions and learn a little more about the world’s largest service club organisation and enjoy our fellowship.
For catering purposes, please phone secretary Lion John Erbacher on
0427 274 473.
Remember the time: 6.30pm. We look forward to your company.
