Scouts climbing to new heights
WHAT a busy week! Last Thursday night, our future Venturer Scouts hosted a very successful movie premiere of Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom at the Chinchilla Cinema. Well done to Tayla, Katie, Corey, Josh and Adam for your hard work in organising this event. What a boost to your bank account to start off your new section.
Over the weekend, we had one of our leaders travel down to Stanthorpe to start his level two abseiling instructor training. Dedication was shown to scouting when the outside temperature was -4.6 degrees and the group were abseiling down the local cliff faces.
Our Cub Section had a day out on Sunday and attended a Pack Council. They have now planned their activities and events for the last half of 2018. Well done to the Cubs.
This week saw the last of scouting for this term. The Joey Scouts made bath bombs to sell at the fete, Cubs did leather-work making woggles and Scouts had a board games night and a Mexican dinner inside due to the weather. Much fun had by all.
What a great term, abseiling, canoeing, camping, bush walking, knot tying, games, craft and badge work. Thank you to the leaders, adult helpers and our parent network for providing such activities and adventures for our local youth.
2018 marks the 80th anniversary of Scouts in Chinchilla. Therefore, on July 21, we will be hosting a fete and open day for all members of our community. If you would like to have a stall or have any memorabilia that we can borrow for the day to display, please contact Leanne on 0408 205 750. Until next time. Yours in Scouting, Kingfisher
