Work to start on park barbecue facility

Chinchilla News - - LIFE | OUR COLUMNISTS -

THIS WEEK, not only marks the end of the financial year business-wise but also our Lions year. Our annual installation of office bearers and changeover dinner takes place on Saturday night at the RSL Memorial Club.

President Ivan Erpel will hand the reins to President Elect Bruce Wedrat and a new Lions year will begin.

Next week, we will bring you highlights of Saturday night’s proceedings.

Next month, work should start on the construction of a barbecue facility in Lions Park.

The new facility has been many months in the planning stage but finally approvals are in place and the necessary equipment/ components have been ordered.

The new facility will also be (we believe) the only one of its kind in the Western Downs region being constructed to enable members of our community with a disability to use it.

We, as a Lions Club, are extremely grateful to QGC for their generous grant which will cover most of the cost of this facility. Thank you QGC. Until next week, take care, stay safe, and if you are travelling in the school holidays, have a safe journey.
