Skate park for Xmas
SKATEBOARDING enthusiasts can expect a new skate park for Christmas this year, with work on the project to begin late August or early September for a November opening.
Completion of the park should coincide with the beginning of the summer school holiday period, which should be welcome news for children in the region.
The project has been driven by Chinchilla residents Brad Ehlers and wife Claudia Ehlers, who collected more than 400 signatures and petitioned Western Downs Regional Council for the project.
The redevelopment of the skate park is funded by $100,000 of the council’s capital works allocation and a further $200,000 as part of the Queensland Government’s Works for Queensland Program.
Concrete Skateparks managing director Rob Lewers said his company looked forward to delivering the project for the community.
“The skate park will be for all different user types, ages and skill levels from beginner through to advanced and will allow demonstrations and community events such as skate days that Chinchilla can host.”
