Tara kids kick up their heels

THE clapping of thunder only added to the musical merriment kicking off at the annual Tara Shire State College P&C Bush Dance.

On the evening of Friday, October 12, families gathered in the sports hall to witness students don their dancing shoes and give the ol’ bush dance their best shot.

P&C president Kate Mammino-Walker said it was a happier occasion for the Tara community.

“It was a really great night especially for the community to get together in times that have been pretty tough for us,” she said.

“Our lovely bush caller, Mrs Beryl Bennett, went around for a few weeks leading up to the night and taught all the children, in each grade level, their own dance.

“They had the opportunity to show their family the dances and later on in the night the families joined in with a bit of line dancing.”

A barbecue preceded the dancing, with a multi-draw raffle of donated prizes allowing many to go home with a grin.

“All the funds will go towards the P&C continuing to provide assistance to the children where we can,” Ms Mammino-Walker said.
