BRETT Hub­bard was the win­ner of last week’s V.S.S. Rod Davies got run­ner-up.

The ap­proach to No.2 was won by Bill Hughes.

No.5 went to Doug Haig and No.7 was won by Paul Keys.

The six pack draws went to Doug Fields and Paul Keys.

Ladies Bowls

THANK you to all those ladies who at­tended the Come and Try Day last Thurs­day, we hope you had an en­joy­able morn­ing.

As the club is hold­ing a Cancer Char­ity Day on Novem­ber 18 this would be a great chance to have an­other game of bowls with other non-bowlers.

Please ring the club and put your names down.

Open Sin­gles and Hand­i­cap Sin­gles Cham­pi­onships are on the board and the games di­rec­tor would like to see a start in the first and sec­ond rounds of th­ese sin­gles.

Please or­gan­ise your games as soon as pos­si­ble.

Tara Bowls Notes

NOT a lot of ac­tion on the Tara green over the week­end as three teams at­tended the CDBA East v West and Pre­sen­ta­tion Day at Me­an­darra.

Cham­pi­onship draws have been done and A Grade Sin­gles are to be played by De­cem­ber 9 – L. Wright v C. Ens­bey, win­ner to play M. Prain, R. Gun­ther v John Smith, M. Llewellyn v C. Brauer, K. Stark v M. Merry, D. Stark v P. Matthews, D. Collins v Jim Smith, L. Board­man v B. Rus­sell and T. Duffy v D. Os­bourne, win­ner to play Jim Moran.

The green will be in tip-top shape on Sun­day Novem­ber 4, so please try and book a spot then.

Please re­mem­ber the club is open from 4pm Wed­nes­day through to Sun­day, with happy hour from 5pm.

CDBA Bowls Notes

THANK you to the Me­an­darra Club for their won­der­ful hos­pi­tal­ity in host­ing the East v West Di­vi­sional Chal­lenge and CDBA Pre­sen­ta­tion Day last Satur­day.

Con­grat­u­la­tions to Stephen Sav­age of Dalby who was crowned the CDBA Bowler of the Year last Satur­day at Me­an­darra.

Run­ner-up was his part­ner in crime Joel Smith, with Matthew Prain third.

Cliffy Brauer of Tara picked up the B Grade Player of the Year, with Chin­chilla’s Jim Don­nelly in sec­ond spot.

The Western Di­vi­sion were the over­all win­ners for the day over the East by a slen­der 6 shot mar­gin over 14 games com­pleted.

The two Chin­chilla teams were the teams with two wins for the day, with Pe­ter Jones, Jim Don­nelly, Bob Bul­lock and Sam Roberts fin­ish­ing with the best mar­gin over Harold Wal­dron, Ken Dol­bel, Pe­ter Roberts and Ken Hen­ningsen.

Thank to the Guymer boys at IGA Miles for do­nat­ing the lovely fruit and vegie trays as tro­phies.

Other dates to keep in mind are the Bell Pres­i­dent’s Day – Novem­ber 11, and the Jandowae Pres­i­dent’s Day and Quar­terly Meet­ing – Novem­ber 25.

Bowls re­sults week end­ing Oc­to­ber 28:

Wed­nes­day so­cial: Win­ners – Don Critch, Fuzzy, Brian Turner. Run­ners-up – Bob Bul­lock, Neil Haz­ard, Rob­bie Ham­mer­meis­ter.

Satur­day so­cial: Win­ners – Brian Ham­mer­meis­ter, Rob­bie Ham­mer­meis­ter.

Sun­day so­cial: Win­ners – Rowan Mutch, Neil Haz­ard, Des Davis. Run­ners-up – Elva Hen­ningsen, Ken Hor­swood.

Cham­pi­onship games played: Hand­i­cap Sin­gles – Ben McCul­lough +10 vs Ken Hen­ningsen 0.

Ben played a great game, tak­ing 2-1-2-2 go­ing 17-2 up af­ter four ends, then tak­ing 7 to 9 of the next 16 ends, 14 to 17 shots.

Ben had a com­fort­able win 32-18.

C Sin­gles: Ken Dol­bel vs Sam Roberts. Ken won 7 of the first 10 ends to be 15-5 up.

Sam made a come­back, win­ning 6 of the next 10 ends 23-18 to Ken, an­other 4 ends for Sam, 24-all on the 26th end.

Any­body’s game. Ken Dol­bel ran out the vic­tor 25-24.
