ASPIRING artists, it’s time to turn your creativity to crafting a wonderful watermelon-inspired piece in time for the Lapunyah Art Gallery Melon Festival Art Competition.

The biennial event coincides with the Chinchilla Melon Festival and gallery director Helen Dennis said there were plenty of categories to choose from.

“We try to cover all disciplines, so everyone has a chance to enter in their particular choice of art or craft medium,” Mrs Dennis said.

Entry is open not just to Chinchilla or Western Downs residents, but anyone who wants to get involved.

“It’s a very popular competition, we get quite a number of entries each year and we’re open on Melon Fest Saturday,” Mrs Dennis said. “We’ve had up to 2000 people come through the doors.”

Categories include painting, drawing, computer generated, photography, 3D art, ceramics/pottery, woodwork or metalwork, fibre arts, and a youth artists section.

Entry forms online at https://www.lapunyah artgallery.com/competitions, you can also email or drop into the gallery to get one.
