EXCITING times are scheduled for one of Roma’s biggest attractions after securing a $1.23 million grant.

Roma’s iconic Big Rig is set to get bigger with the Maranoa Regional Council being successful in securing the funds from the State’s Outback Tourism Infrastructure Fund to go towards the Bigger Big Rig project.

The new $2.99 million project is set to have a focus on adventure, encompassing the Bigger Big Rig, a zip line and a tree walk.

It will also include a 30m observation tower, including lift and stairs, featuring a number of highlights from outback Queensland.

Councillor Puddy Chandler, portfolio chair for tourism, said this was a big win for the Big Rig, Roma and the Maranoa overall.

“It is our aim at the Big Rig to create lifelong experiences for all of our visitors,” Cr Chandler said.

“This project, with its focus on adventure, will be able to do just that.”
